Date of Visit: 4 - 5 September 2011
Florence, the city full of renaissance art and architecture. It is a very beautiful city.

There are many art galleries, statues and monuments littered all over the city. The most famous of which is the statue of David, sculpted by Michelangelo. Photographs are not allowed in the museum, called the Academia, but that does not stop me from trying to snap one secretly. Too bad I was caught by one of the security, as you can see in the photo below(walking towards me):
There is a replica outside the Uffizi museum, which is free for anyone to take photo with. The original David became too pussy to stay outdoors so have to be moved indoors. Guess he's too tired standing naked for so many years...
The Duomo, or dome, is another famous icon for Florence. The Cathedral is free to enter, but have to pay to go up the dome. As we are poor students, we are contented to be at the bottom looking up. The cathedral is huge, really really huge. The walls and ceilings are all painted elaborately. The medieval people really have a gift for making art everywhere.

We stayed in a youth hostel that seems to be packed with young americans. It's rather cheap and is actually quite good. It's called Plus Florence and is part of the Plus group, which operates hostels and tours in many countries. The hostel has a swimming pool, a sauna, turkish bath, terrace bar and they even have a club/pub at the basement, and it's all free to use!
And since we are in Italy, how can we missed out Gelatos? So here's to let you see me eat one :)

There's also this famous bridge, with shops that sell gold. Hmmm.
